This standard applies to mortars utilized in building and monuments of historical-artistics and traditional interest. The standard can be applied also to the wider field of old and protected buildings.This standard establishes the general criteria to be used in the macroscopical observations preliminary to the sampling of a mortar and in mineralogical, petrographycal and physical study of a mortar with the purpose to characterize the mixture and to evaluate the conditions of conservation.
